Research Center for the Cultural History of Sexuality

The Research Center is an interdisciplinary institution founded in 2012 by Prof. Dr. Andreas Kraß. The research projects work on questions on the cultural history of sexuality in the 19th and 20th centuries from a literary, cultural and historical perspective. Since July 2016, the centre is fully funded by third-party funds.

Two research projects were recently completed: The Einstein Foundation in Berlin is funding a project on literary modernity at the intersection of Judaism and homosexuality (in cooperation with the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel). The Miss Naomi Art Foundation supports a research and exhibition project on the history of sexuality (in cooperation with the Wilzig Erotic Art Museum in Miami, USA).

A new research project will start in May 2023, funded by the Thyssen-Foundation:
"Queer Reading - A Methodolology. German Literature in the Age of Paragraph 175 (1872-1994)".
